Recently we heard director Peter Cornwell was taking Joseph Conrad’s classic novella Heart of Darkness into space, and now it sounds like another classic piece of literature will be heading into the future. Variety reports Warner Bros. has picked up a script from Ian Shorr (Splinter) called Cristo, which takes Alexandre Dumas’ classic adventure novel The Count of Monte Cristo into a futuristic setting. I guess taking old stories and setting them in space or the future is the cool thing to do now. The project doesn’t yet have a director, but the studio has already sent the screenplay out around town to find one sooner than later. First Showing has the full story.
